Phil Lord and Christopher Miller continue to tease Spider-Man fans with the idea of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)'s characters meeting Marvel's live-action incarnations.

On Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Lord and Miller were asked their thoughts about tying Spider-Verse into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Spider-Man: No Way Home. Miller ambiguously responded "The Multiverse is big and wide. And all things grow... Why would you think a Multiverse, in which many things are possible, that [those things are] not related?" Lord, in turn, joked, "Everything's possible except for this one thing that everyone wants."

This isn't the first time Lord and Miller have hinted at multiversal connections to the MCU. The duo previously responded to theories of a No Way Home Miles Morales cameo by acknowledging, "Everyone is part of the Spider-Verse," though they admitted it was unlikely. Miles had previously been referenced in Spider-Man: Homecoming by Aaron Davis (Donald Glover), albeit not by name, and, while he didn't appear in No Way Home, the film did include a meta-joke about Miles' character.

In terms of Sony's other Spider-Man-related properties, Eddy Brock recently popped into the MCU during Venom: Let There be Carnage's mid-credits scene due to No Way Home's reality-warping spell, but was pulled back to his universe before he and Tom Holland's Peter could meet. Holland has previously admitted that he and co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon want to be in a Spider-Verse entry, though producer Amy Pascal has yet to follow up with him.

According to Lord and Miller, each world Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) explores will feature its own distinct art style to match the look of its respective hero. This idea was briefly teased during the film's first trailer, where Miles is confronted by Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) in one dimension before 2099 transports them to a completely different-looking one.

Furthermore, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) will not only see the return of Miles (Shameik Moore), Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), but a new collection of Spider-Variants as well. Known characters include Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew, played by Issa Rae) and Japanese Spider-Man Takuya Yamashiro.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) will arrive in theaters Oct. 7, 2022.
