Marvel fans will have to wait a bit longer than expected for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One), the upcoming sequel to Sony's hit 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

As reported by Deadline, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) has lost its Oct. 7, 2022 release date and is now slated to swing into theaters on June 2, 2023. Additionally, the film's direct follow-up, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two), has set a release date of March 29, 2024. Part Two was previously eyeing a 2023 debut, though no specific release date was announced.

Meanwhile, Sony's live-action Spider-Man spinoff film Madame Web has set a release date of July 7, 2023, while The Equalizer 3 has set a release date of Sept. 1, 2023. Elsewhere, the animated film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is not only due to release this year, but has actually been bumped up, moving from Nov. 18 to Across the Spider-Verse (Part One)'s previous release date of Oct. 7. Finally, the Korean War film Devotion is due to begin a limited theatrical release later this year on Oct. 14 before expanding on Oct. 21 and ultimately going wide on Oct. 28.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse released in theaters on Dec. 14, 2018. The animated feature was a massive success, bringing in $375.5 million worldwide and winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards in February 2019. In December 2021, Sony revealed a first look at the highly-anticipated sequel, revealing the title of Across the Spider-Verse, as well as the fact that it would be the first of two parts.

The first-look footage rejoins Miles Morales/Spider-Man (Shameik Moore), who is reunited with his multiversal ally (and crush) Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld), otherwise known as Spider-Gwen or Ghost-Spider. Miles is soon accosted by Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac), who previously made a post-credits cameo in Into the Spider-Verse. Across the Spider-Verse is also expected to see Jake Johnson reprise his role as Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man, who acted as Miles' mentor in the first film. Additionally, Issa Rae has been cast in the role of Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is set to release in theaters on June 2, 2023. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) will follow suit on March 29, 2024.
