A new report may hint at the appearance of another villain in the cast of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man 3.

A source at The GWW reports that Willem Dafoe was spotted on the set of the superhero film, and will play a role in the events of the film. Dafoe was reported to be reprising his role as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin by the Illuminerdi in December, alongside Hayden Thomas Church as Sandman. They would join Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, and potentially Tobey Maguire's version of the web-slinger.

Dafoe portrayed the Green Goblin in Sam Rami's first Spider-Man film, and would briefly reprise the role in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. He would later star in another comic book-based film with Aquaman, portraying Arthur Curry's mentor Vulko.

The plot of Spider-Man 3 has been kept under wraps. However, WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer said that Spider-Man 3, and later, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will deal with the fallout from the Disney+ series. Several actors from the two previous Spider-Man film series have either been confirmed or rumored to be reprising their roles in the film. The film will also continue to address the fallout from Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the city of New York split on Peter Parker's status as a hero after Mysterio revealed his secret identity to the world.

Directed by Jon Watts, the currently untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
