Sony's social media may have hinted at a potential villainous turn for a character in the upcoming Spider-Man 3.

The revelation comes via the @spideyno1fan_ Instagram account, which was created for Spider-Man: Far From Home. In one of the Instagram stories, a "this or that" poll is held between Betty Brant (Angourie Rice) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), with Ned sporting an orange hat resembling the Hobgoblin's.

In Marvel comics canon, Ned Leeds was brainwashed into taking up the mantle of the Hobgoblin, which strained his marriage to Betty. He was eventually murdered by the assassin known as the Foreigner.

The @spideyno1fan_ account also revealed the front page of the Daily Bugle, which has posted an article from the editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson declaring Spider-Man a "menace." Set photos and videos have also revealed a divide between the citizens of New York, with some believing Mysterio's story about Spider-Man being a menace and others standing up for the Web-Slinger.

Plot details for Spider-Man 3 have been scarce. However, WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer said that Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will tie into the Disney+ series. Several actors from the previous Spider-Man film series are either rumored or confirmed to reprise their roles in the film, including Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Directed by Jon Watts, the currently untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
