Jamie Foxx is in talks to reprise his The Amazing Spider-Man 2 role as the villainous Electro in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' untitled Spider-Man 3.

Foxx's Electro would mark the second character from Sony's previous Spider-Man films to cross over to the relaunched films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An end-credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home surprised fans by reintroducing J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

The actor debuted as Electro in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man. Max Dillon was a former employee at Oscorp Industries that gained electrical powers during an accident. Electro would go on to develop a grudge against Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, leading to their climactic fight near the end of the film.

Back in July, Sony delayed its untitled third Spider-Man film to Dec. 17, 2021, due to theaters around the world remaining closed or open with reduced capacity because of coronavirus (COVID-19). This is the second delay for the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel. Originally scheduled to premiere on July 16, 2021, the film was delayed to November back in April. It is unclear if this will impact the movie's shooting schedule, which titular star Tom Holland claimed should be complete by early 2021.

Starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, the third MCU Spider-Man film is set for release on Dec. 17, 2021. An official title for Spider-Man 3 has not yet been announced.
