SPIDER-MAN 3
The big news of the day, of course, is that photo of Thomas Hayden Church in character as Flint Marko (no relation to Cain Marko ... we think). Anyhoo, we here at CBR are happy to provide you a look at said photo ...
FATHOM
At Wizard World Texas, Comics Continuum heard the word from comics creator Michael Turner, who said the Fathom live-action movie -- a prequel to the comic -- continues to be as close as it has to becoming a reality at 20th Century Fox. "The latest script is at Fox and hopefully we'll know in a couple of weeks," Turner said. "It's kind of wait-and-find-out on how the script is taken by Fox."
HELLBOY
Concept artist Sean Galloway has revealed here that he's working on two new animated Hellboy movies. He said, "Recently, I got selected as lead character designer for the Hellboy Animated cartoon. What you see here is the new look for the cartoon. Sorry to say, but it won't be based on Mignola's style. He wanted something other than his style. It's going to be 2 direct to DVD movies (70 minutes each). They'll be aired on Cartoon Network. The first one is scheduled for next October. I just wrapped up the designs for the first DVD."
SIN CITY 2
Actor Michael Clarke Duncan talked to Empire Online about calling it a comeback in the "prequel" story "A Dame To Kill For." ""We've talked about it," Duncan said. "Manute has a very big role [in that] and I certainly wanna be a part of it. You'll think, 'didn't he get killed?' but Frank doesn't do it in order. True fans will understand that."
ULTIMATE AVENGERS
Marvel has released the third poster for the animated DVD release, showing the Norse God of Thunder in all his furious glory.
Comics Continuum also noted that a seven minute clip from the film was shown on Saturday, featuring a fight with a certain gamma-powered behemoth.
SUPERMAN RETURNS
New set photos, you say? Cool. Meanwhile, there's new wallpaper based on the film over at the Blue Tights Network.
PAINKILLER JANE
Having a busy day, Comics Continuum has photos from the live action adaptation of the Events Comics antiheroine.
X-MEN 3
Mmm, there's nothing like a big batch of fresh spoilers to start your week off right. They've collected a bunch over at The XVerse gleaned from a Brazilian magazine, including tidbits on the Master of Magnetism and the old Canucklehead.
V FOR VENDETTA
Just in case you forgot, The Independent has a piece on how happy Alan Moore is to see another project of his headed to the big screen. "Specifically, he hates the way that many of his colleagues get excited when a wonderful comic book gets turned into a worthless movie franchise. He is in the process of severing his links with DC as a result of a press release which said that he was enthusiastic about the forthcoming film of V for Vendetta. On the contrary, "'I have made it clear that I want nothing to do with films of my work. I don't want my name on them and I insist that the money go to other creators.'"
NICK FURY, AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
Could Marvel's greatest spy be an "Enemy of the State?" An eyepatch for the Fresh Prince? There's a rumor floating around over at IGN's FilmForce that "According to a trusted source, Marvel is looking to make the big-screen Nick Fury more along the lines of The Ultimates version than the traditional character. In other words, this Nick Fury will be an African-American. This is also in keeping with the portrayal of Fury in the upcoming direct-to-DVD animated release of 'Ultimate Avengers' ... guess which thesp Marvel is said to be considering for Nick Fury? No, not Sam Jackson. Our says says it's none other than Oscar nominee and action star Will Smith. Smith's reps at CAA said this was news to them and his publicist advised us that 'Will is not involved in this project in any way, shape or form'"
SMALLVILLE
Last but certainly not least, Kryptonsite has high res screen captures of this week's episode, "Splinter."
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION
Here's where you get in on the action. Did you see a link we didn't catch? Have you snuck into a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Whatever it is, we wanna know it all -- fire off an email and let us know whether you want your name used or your contributions to geekdom to go down anonymously. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is novelist/reviewer/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu saying thanks for your time and indulgence, and [tagline sent back to development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
