Not much is known about the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, but one prominent rumor is that the second Tom Holland Spidey film will feature a "femme fatale" in her 20s. Well, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has outright shot down that rumor, now saying it came from "a misleading minor casting search."

Speaking with ScreenRant ahead of Avengers: Infinity War, Feige was directly asked if a femme fatale -- or Black Cat, in particular -- would appear in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Feige, careful with his words, definitively said "no."

Take a look at the exchange with Feige below.

SR: Spider-Man was talks of a possible femme fatale that’s going to be answering Peter Parker’s life. Now that’s a short list. And the one that immediately pops my head at least is Black Cat.

Kevin Feige: No, that was, uh, that, that was a misleading minor casting search. None of those rumors are true at all.

Black Cat is reportedly one of the lead characters in Sony's upcoming Silver & Black film, which would star the classic Spider-Man anti-hero alongside Silver Sable. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, that film, like the Tom Hardy-led Venom, has been thought to exist outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, if Black Cat were to debut in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, that would cement Silver & Black as part of the MCU.
