Things aren't looking too good for the spider-heroes of Marvel's Spider-Geddon event. The evil, vampiric Inheritors have escaped from the world they were imprisoned on during Spider-Verse, and are now looking for payback in the form of multiversal eradication.

The Web Warriors understand how serious a threat the Inheritors represent, which has caused a bit of infighting amongst the group. While Miles Morales wants to recruit the likes of Peter Parker and Jessica Drew, who have a track record of defeating the Inheritors, Otto Octavius believes the only way to guarantee victory is to kill the Inheritors for good. May "Mayday" Parker sides with Miles and heads off to find Spider-Girl (Anya Corazon), with the duo discovering a character in the Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows universe holds the key to a Spider-Geddon victory.

One Big Spider Family

Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows debuted during Marvel's Secret Wars and displayed a world where Peter Parker and Mary Jane remained married and raised a family together with their daughter Annie. Once the event series came to an end, the title relaunched and introduced a time jump with Annie now a teenager calling herself Spiderling. Mary Jane also joined the web-slinging family as Spinneret.

Annie's spider-sense was already different from her father's, but recently she started receiving visions she couldn't interpret. One vision even made her blackout while swinging through the city, worrying her parents in the process. After Spider-Girl and Mayday find Spider-Man, Spinneret and Spiderling (and team-up to beat a Vulture Gang), the heroes reveal their secret identities, with the Parker Family learning that May, the daughter they lost, is alive and well in another reality.

This comes as a huge shock to Mary Jane, since May has the same name as the daughter she and Peter lost many years ago. We have to remember the Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows universe didn't take part in Spider-Verse, so this is their first time meeting Spider-Men and Spider-Women from other worlds, let alone being introduced to the Web of Life and Destiny. But the chance encounter revealed Spiderling's visions, the Inheritors and the Web are all connected.

Spiderling Spins A Spider Key To Victory

Spider-Girl was able to turn the tide of Spider-Verse through her connection to the Web of Life and Destiny. She brought along one of her mystical scrolls to Earth-18119, and once Spiderling touches it, everything starts to make sense. Annie's visions were being thrown off by the scrolls and the Web, which leads Anya to believe Annie is the key to figuring out how to bring an end to the Inheritors.

With so many soldiers participating in the Spider-Geddon war on both sides, one singular act or character can swing the tide of victory. Annie Parker may be the youngest and least experienced of the spider-heroes, but she's been waiting her entire life for an opportunity to prove she has what it takes to be a hero in the same vein of her father.

Spider-Man and Spinneret are leaving to join the fight against the Inheritors while Spiderling stays behind with Spider-Girl and Mayday. The "Spider-Girls" will work to figure out Spiderling's role in the grand scheme of Spider-Geddon, which has the added benefit of keeping her out of harm's way. Earth-18119 has remained Inheritor-free for the time being, but as we've learned, they won't stop until they've raged war on each and every reality.
