Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took Spider-Man fans on an unbelievable adventure. The film was met with critical acclaim and demand for sequels was met with two more Spider-Verse movies being greenlit. While a plot for Into the Spider-Verse 2 has not been released yet, one 2018 storyline would make a fantastic sequel.

The events of Spider-Geddon by Christos Gage, Carlo Barberi, Jorge Molina, David Cruel and VC's Travis Lanham take place immediately after the events of 2014's Spider-Verse comic , by Dan Slott, Olivier Coipel, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cam Smith and Wade Von Grawbadger. Spider-Verse saw the rise and fall of the Inheritors, vampires that feed on the essence of Spider-Men and Spider-Women. After defeating the Inheritors the first time, the Spideys elected to strand them on a radioactive planet.

Spider-Geddon picks up with Otto Octavious, as the Superior Octopus, using the Inheritors technology to create cloning tanks as a backup in case he dies. A group of Spider-People from many different dimensions, led by Miles Morales and Spider-UK, charge into Otto's lab to alert him of the risk he is taking by using the Inheritors technology. As Otto shrugs off their opinion, three Inheritors emerge from the tanks and absorb the life-force from Spider-UK and Spider-Man Noir, leaving them dead. The rest of the Spiders flee while Spider-Gwen holds the Inheritors back. The team elects to destroy Otto's lab, believing that Spider-Gwen was sacrificed in the explosion.

Otto and Miles get into an argument over how they should handle the Inheritors. Otto believes it is too risky to leave them alive again while Miles sticks to his morals and declares that he will not kill. The group splits into two, as Miles and Otto head in separate directions to recruit more Spider-People to their respective causes. Otto is able to recruit the likes of Scarlet Spider, a giant spider version of Norman Osborn, and even Peter Parker from Marvel's Spider-Man for PS4. While the two teams are recruiting, one of the Inheritors kills the Master Weaver, leaving the Web of Life unattended. Miles reaches out to Otto's group, saying they are going to move in on the Inheritors.

The Inheritors then took over New U's cloning lab. Miles and his team believe they need to stop them now or else they will become unstoppable with backup bodies at the ready. Their attack fails, but they are rescued by Otto's team. While they are unable to defeat the Inheritors, Otto gains knowledge that the Inheritor's cloning efforts have been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Spider-Woman leads a small team to retrieve the life essence of the Inheritor's patriarch. The Inheritors believe they have to bring their father back to be at full strength.

The Norman Osborn Spider-Man believes that the only true way to defeat the Inheritors is to block off Earth-616 from all other dimensions, thus trapping them. He and Spiders-Man depart and destroy the web of life, sealing Earth-616 and trapping all of the Spider-people with the Inheritors. With the two teams now on one side, Miles attempts to contact an Enigma Force in an alternate dimension, believing that the Enigma Force can create a new Captain Universe from one of the Spider-People. While Miles is successful in his contact, Otto and the Scarlet Spider leave the scene and put their own plan into motion.

Better Spider-Geddon

Ben Reilly decided to sacrifice himself as he was previously cloned 27 different times by the Jackal and his experiences would be detrimental to the well-being of the Inheritor that absorbs him. An Inheritor figures out the plan and attacks Otto in an effort to drain his lifeforce. Miles arrives, powered by the Enigma Force and turned into Captain Universe. Miles is able to easily defeat the Inheritors. Otto reveals to the rest of the team that the Inheritors have not been killed, but have been revived as babies. He explains that the other Inheritors were not evil from birth but were taught their ways by their patriarch. Spider-Ma'am, an alternate version of May Parker, agrees to raise the children. As the Spiders try to figure out how to return to their respective homes, Spider-Gwen reappears with the ability to bring everyone back to their home dimension.

Spider-Geddon is the perfect story to continue the Spider-Verse adventures, though the story would have to be reworked to fit with the story told in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. After all, it might be a little difficult to explain how Doc Ock became the Superior Spider-Man to the casual Spidey fan.
