Spawn's Universe #1 will feature four superstar artists, each tackling a different character in the Spawn universe.

The 52-page one-shot will be written by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and is split into four chapters. The chapters feature art by Jim Cheung, who will illustrate a story featuring the titular antihero; Brett Booth, who will illustrate a Gunslinger Spawn story; Stephen Segovia, who will illustrate Medival Spawn; and finally, Marcio Takara will tackle She-Spawn. J. Scott Campbell will illustrate four covers, with each one depicting one of the characters. Booth will also provide a variant cover for Spawn's Universe #1.

"I’ve waited almost 30 years to be able to get to this moment. To deliver on ideas, I hope they will grow from this initial seed called SPAWN’S UNIVERSE #1 into a fully formed world populated with hundreds and hundreds of characters in the near future," McFarlane said. "The stage will be set with this book, and soon I'll be launching into new monthly titles for the first time since 1992. I can't wait to show comic readers all the crazy ideas in my head as well as opening up the floodgate to so many talented creators that have said they’d like to join me on this journey."

McFarlane previously announced his plans for Spawn's Universe at the Annual ComicsPRO Conference in February. Described as a "multi-character, interconnected comic book universe," the new initiative will see McFarlane launch four different titles centered on Spawn and his allies. McFarlane will also be joined by multiple superstar writers and artists to help flesh out the universe, including fellow Image Comics founder Marc Silvestri.

Spawn's Universe #1 goes on sale in June from Image Comics.
