Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has revealed his variant cover for issue #310, which introduces the character of Ninja Spawn -- who will factor into the record-breaking comic book's actual story in the coming months.

"Sneak peek at Spawn #310 cover!" McFarlane wrote on Twitter. "Folks! I want to show you how awesome my cover of Ninja Spawn turned out for the upcoming Spawn #310 issue!! He'll be on the cover of Spawn #310 and then will join the story inside a few months later!" Notably, this new iteration of Ninja Spawn for the comic book seems to carry rather different design than McFarlane Toys' old Ninja Spawn action figures.

Featuring a main cover by Francesco Mattina and an additional variant by Björn Barends, Spawn #310 is slated to go on sale later this month. "Spawn is on the hunt for someone, or something, insidious!" the official synopsis reads. "Demons hiding among humans! Secret dealings with Big-Pharma! Dark plans are about to be exposed! There is a storm coming, and Spawn is at the center.

Written by Todd McFarlane and illustrated by Jim Muniz, Spawn #310 goes on sale Sept. 30 from Image Comics.
