Image Comics celebrated Spawn #301 with variant covers by Alex Ross, J. Scott Campbell, Bill Sienkiewicz and Jerome Opeña.
With issue #301, Spawn has become the longest-running creator-owned comic in the world, surpassing the Cerebus the Aardvark by David Sims, the previous record-holder. Issue #301 is the second of a two-part arc written by Todd McFarlane himself.

Issue #301 was also drawn and inked by McFarlane. Just this week, he posted a video providing a look at the upcoming comic title. In this video, he revealed he is in the middle of inking the opening pages to Spawn #301. He teased a confrontation between a mysterious figure wielding a katana and a hulking demon at the mouth of an ominous temple.
Campbell, one of the varient cover artists, told his Twitter followers to make sure to order his variant at their local comic book store:

As one of the original, bestselling titles that helped launch Image Comics after its co-founding by McFarlane in 1992, Spawn helped bring creator-owned comics into the American mainstream and has been a steady fan-favorite ever since.
Spawn #301 is written by Todd McFarlane and illustrated by McFarlane, Greg Capullo, Jason Shawn Alexander, Clayton Crain, Jerome Opena, Francesco Mattina and more. It is scheduled to go on sale Oct. 2 from Image Comics.
