After an almost 25 year wait, Space Jam is finally releasing a sequel, this time starring NBA Champion LeBron James. The global star is sent on an epic adventure in Space Jam: A New Legacy, which follows his search for his son Dom who is trapped in an A.I. world. To get him home safe, LeBron must defeat an incredibly tough roster of NBA and WNBA stars, but luckily he has the help of the Looney Tunes by his side.

To make the epic basketball matchup between the Tunes and the Goons even more entertaining, Warner Bros. has filled the brand new trailer with awesome references to their movies and even made a specific easter egg hunt video for the film. So fans are desperate to find all the cool cameos hidden in the background of the new trailer.

10 The Clockwork Orange Cameo Caused A Bit Of Backlash

Clockwork Orange

Stanley Kubrick is one of the most inspiring and revolutionary filmmakers of all time, but the inclusion of some of his characters in the new trailer was a surprise. One cameo that was spotted by fans was the Warner Bros.-owned characters from Stanley Kubrick's visionary film A Clockwork Orange from 1971.

These characters were the droogs, a group of teenagers who went around murdering and sexually assaulting people, led by their leader Alex played by Malcolm McDowell, who sang "Singin' in the Rain" while assaulting women. Their famous and well-known white costumes were seen in the trailer and have actually caused quite a bit of backlash for including these pretty disgusting characters in an animated film.

9 There Were Also Tons Of Hanna-Barbera Characters Throughout

Hanna-Barbera Characters

Hanna-Barbera Productions has created some pretty iconic cartoon characters over the years, and some of them stuck out like sore thumbs in the Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer. As the 36-year-old LeBron travels through the many different animated worlds or the so-called Server Verse, fans can spot a Yogi Bear running around as well as Scooby-Doo driving frantically in the iconic Mystery Machine.

The Easter eggs don't stop there either. In fact, later in the trailer, the Flinstones can also be spotted in an epic chase scene full of tons of other interesting characters.

8 Mad Max: Fury Road Alos Got A Big Reference

Mad Max Space Jam

Warner Bros. released the film Mad Max: Fury Road to a great reception back in 2015, and it looks like LeBron will be visiting the deserted wasteland in Space Jam. Part of the plot of Space Jam 2 will follow LeBron James as he tries to bring the Looney Tunes all back together after they have all gone their separate ways.

One character, at least, is hiding out in the wasteland seen in Mad Max. It's unknown which character it is, but Road Runner seems like the perfect choice. Characters from Mad Max can also be seen in the crowd during the climactic basketball match.

7 There Is A Huge Reference To The World Of The DC Comics

DC World Space Jam

Continuing with the theme of exploring all the Warner Bros. franchises, of course, LeBron had to come across the DC world. In the crowd for the final game, many references to classic DC heroes and villains can be seen, from Jack Nicholson's Joker to two different versions of Cat Woman.

Another awesome reference was the DC planet combining the darker city and home of Batman, Gotham, and Superman's city Metropolis on opposite sides of the equator. LeBron will also be visiting the world of Wonder Woman when gathering his team.

6 Kong: Skull Island Gets A Huge Standout Mention

King Kong

Another massive Warner Bros. franchise that had to be mentioned is the world of King Kong. At one point in the trailer, as LeBron tries to put together his plan for the team he wants to face off against the Goons. The list includes Superman, Gandalf, Iron Giant, and of course King Kong.

Not only is King Kong written on LeBron's dream team whiteboard, but Kong later makes an appearance toward the end of the trailer in full force after his battle against Godzilla. The planes from his movie can also be seen flying around him.

5 Flying Through Many Warner Bros. Franchise Planets

Franchise Planets

One of the most epic moments of the trailer was watching LeBron fly past tons of awesome planets based on the most famous franchises from the huge collection in the Warner Bros. library. The first planet shown is based on Game of Thrones, and then a glimpse is shown of the world of The Wizard of Oz, where LeBron is hit by a tornado just like the movie.

A keen eye can also spot a Flinstones planet next to it, where the rocks and some of their houses can be seen. Another cool planet that can be spotted is one based on The Maltese Falcon, a noir mystery film from 1941. And of course, LeBron lands in a Looney Tunes world where he is automatically turned into his cartoon self.

4 The Matrix Is Another Film That Gets A Big Mention

Matrix Space Jam

Another Warner Bros. classic The Matrix gets a couple of blink-and-you-missed-it moments in the trailer, as well as a straight-up mention. Of course, the movie is based around the idea of a Server Verse, almost like a big Warner Bros. Matrix, so it seems pretty fitting for characters from the trilogy to appear.

LeBron name drops the Matrix right near the start of the clip after his son Dom is taken away to the Server Verse. Later among the crowds at the basketball game, many different Agent Smiths from the movie can be spotted cheering on the team.

3 That Classic Alley-Oop Assist Had To Make An Appearance

Of course, the film isn't just going to be filled with Warner Bros. cameos and easter eggs, but also some about the non-cinematic basketball career of the "King" James. LeBron has one of the best NBA careers of all time, so it's no surprise that he would have some pretty memorable moments. Among those moments came one that also happened to be picture perfect.

In a transition play between LeBron and Miami Heat teammate Dwayne Wade, Wade and James were captured in one of the most iconic and cold NBA photos of all time. Space Jam 2 seems to replicate this with Lola Bunny taking on the role of the alley-oop assister.

2 LeBron's Kit Is Also Full Of Some Special References

After his confrontation with Don Cheadle's Al-G Rhythm and after he built his team, The King was ready for the ultimate basketball showdown with the Looney Tunes. The Looney Tunes characters can be seen sporting the iconic Space Jams kit from the 1996 Space Jam starring Michael Jordan, but LeBron gets his own kit which rocks the insignia of the brands he represents in real life.

The Nike Swoosh can be seen along with his personal logo featuring a crown with his initials underneath. James is also seen wearing his own signature basketball sneakers and wearing wristbands in honor of his "I Promise School" from his hometown Akron in Ohio.

1 Who Are All The Players From The Goons Team?

Anthony Davis in Space Jam 2

Just like Space Jam 1996, LeBron's Space Jam: A New Legacy will also feature a ton of real-life players. Lining up against The King are the likes of fellow Lakers teammate Anthony Davis as the villainous bird of prey "The Brow," Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers is a gold robot showcasing his impressive dribbling skills, and the GOAT of the WNBA Diana Taurasi is also shown as a silky snake or the "White Mamba."

Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors appears as "Wetfire," who can use the forces of water and fire, LA Sparks star Nneka Ogwumike also has a role as "Arachnneka" thanks to her impressive defense skills. Other players like Chris Paul, Chiney Ogwumike, and Draymond Green are among plenty of other stars also set to make an appearance.
