WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Season 1 of Space Force, now available on Netflix.

Netflix's Space Force ends on a very bleak note as America's spacemen sabotage China's base on the moon, only to realize theirs has been trashed as well. It's all due to Air Force chief, Grabaston (Noah Emmerich), taking over command center in Colorado and ordering America to strike first and strike hard.

However, with Space Force's head, General Naird (Steve Carell), coming back to base after escaping to rescue his family, it seems there might be a glimmer of hope left. With not much time remaining before both groups of astronauts die, let's look at how Season 2 has been set up.

Taking Back Space Force

Naird and Grabaston have a heated rivalry as the latter hates Naird's science team. Grabaston loves war, and his aggression has won over the POTUS, who has placed Naird on the outskirts of America's war council. However, Naird ends the season by turning his chopper around after his secretary, Brad (Don Lake), secretly calls him, so he can take Space Force back.

With science chief Mallory (John Malkovich) and Chan (Jimmy Yang) there with tons of special projects and sensitive data that can be stolen and misappropriated, Naird has to pull the coup off in the name of national security, even if it'll annoy the president. Grabaston has been waiting on this rematch since Space Force beat Air Force in a training game of Space Tag.

The Moon Madness

Supplies won't be sent from America to the moon for a month, so without a ship or a base, the Americans are in trouble. China doesn't have a base either, so as both parties set up some kind of makeshift system, viewers might see them working together and achieving peace. Angela (Tawny Newsome) hates war, so audience can see her being eager to find a solution towards co-existing.

However, it won't be easy, as her crew is filled with goofballs and a criminal, Chris Gethard's Eddie. China's motives might also be sinister, as they set up base to drill for H3 fuel, which means they could be sending a ship earlier or have a second, hidden base. This could lead to them taking the American as prisoners of war. China already stole America's space chimp, Marcus, and desecrated the flag, so audiences won't be surprised if they're more hostile.

Naird's Family Problems

Fans don't know why Naird's wife, Maggie (Lisa Kudrow), went to jail for 40 to 60 years, so that will surely be a key point. Naird will also have to drop her and her female lover, an officer who broke her out, back to their Colorado jail, so this trip could be an awkward family therapy session after rescuing their daughter, Erin (Diana Silvers), from junkies.

Erin despises Naird for not devoting time to her, so there are parenting issues to be sorted. She's also fallen for a young soldier at Space Force named Duncan (Spencer House), which Naird will have to address. Furthermore, another suitor, Yuri (Alex Sparrow), has been trying to get with Erin to extract Naird's secrets for the Russians. Simply put, there's a lot of drama Naird has to handle that could compromise his job.

Rocky Romances

Chan and Angela have fallen for each other, so Season 2 can look at a truly long-distance relationship. He's worried about her on the moon, and she needs his support, so Chan might be willing to cross lines to help her face off against the Chinese if they capture them.

There's also Mallory's romance to focus on, as he fell in love with someone testing lunar stations on Earth, Jerome, and was outed as gay by Naird's botched search for a spy. Last but not least, Naird himself will have to figure out how to make a romance work with private contractor Kelly (Jessica St. Clair). It could be a conflict of interest, as she supplies cameras to their Colorado HQ. Furthermore, while Maggie is cool, Erin's not accepting of possibly having a step-mother.

Created by Greg Daniel and Steve Carell, Space Force stars Carell, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers and Tawny Newsome. Season 1 is currently available on Netflix.
