The latest South Park season ruined the real estate market in the Colorado town that might be inspired by a real city, while Randy Marsh's Tegridy Farms took a huge financial hit after competition from Steve Black's Credigree Farms. Randy once again screwed the whole thing up and then tried to blame Tegridy's failings on Towelie, adding insult to injury.
In the Paramount+ exclusive special South Park: The Streaming Wars, Randy tried to rebound from the collapse of his marijuana farm with a new venture. The movie poked fun at the bevy of streaming services around, and while both Randy and Steve got into the industry in search of another windfall, the horrific conclusion revealed there was only one real winner -- and it wasn't either of South Park's captains of industry.
During a water shortage, Randy and Steve were both sending water from their weed farms down to the Denver reservoir. They had 'subscribers' for their respective 'streaming services,' making money while folks did their best to stave off drought. However, Steve realized that someone was manipulating the flow of water in the mountains to create this shortage. He investigated and discovered that crucial acreage had been bought up by a shady figure.
Steve confronted Pi-Pi -- the owner of Splashtown, the famous water park from Season 13, Episode 14, "Pee." In that episode, the boys had to deal all the urine in the park mutating citizens into monsters. They partnered with the Army to find a cure, but since then, the park's owner hadn't played a major role... until Steve realized Pi-Pi was the one rigging the water flow. He used ManBearPig to effect this and the beast killed Cussler, who was actually winning the streaming services war.
Pi-Pi confirmed that he set the entire capitalist venture up -- not to get water for his park, but to ensure all the water would be drained. This meant his park would have the one liquid commodity the town and its environs would need: pee. He'd stocked up on it for decades, so he'd become wealthy as people would need it to replace water. Admittedly, he never specified if he'd worked out the mutation problem, but he was confident he would be Denver's saving grace.
Pi-Pi ended The Streaming Wars by having ManBearPig kill Steve and the corrupt Water Commissioner, which also sets him up as the main villain for South Park Season 26. The special concluded with ManBearPig sabotaging dams and sending more water downhill, which allowed the inconsiderate townsfolk to keep using. They gleefully did so with frivolous activities, which punctuated the show's message about wasting water. It's been a while since South Park has had someone so conniving, but since Tolkien's mom called to report his dad missing, the boys are set up to take on the case of Steve's disappearance and hopefully, stop the poisonous wave to come.
