Sorry, 'Star Wars' Fans, But 'Disney Infinity 3.0' Didn't Confirm Rey's Parentage

Warning: Spoilers follow for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"Star Wars" fan speculation kicked into hyperdrive overnight at the possibility that one of the lingering questions of "The Force Awakens" -- Who is Rey? -- had been answered in, of all places, a Disney video game. However, excitement fizzled just as quickly as it ignited when most realized it just wasn't the case.

The theory that Daisy Ridley's Force-sensitive heroine is actually Luke Skywalker's daughter certainly didn't need a boost, but it received one anyway when walkthrough video from the newly released "Disney Interactive 3.0: The Force Awakens" (below) began to circulate, depicting the final boss fight between Rey and Kylo Ren.

At about 20:23, the masked villain shouts what some initially interpreted as "Face me, cousin!," setting off a brief online firestorm. If that's what the character actually had said, you can certainly understand the excitement: In "The Force Awakens," Kylo Ren is revealed as the son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, so if Rey were his "cousin," that would in all likelihood make her a Skywalker.

However, even if you actually thought Disney and Lucasfilm might spoil such a major plot point with a line of dialogue in a video game tie-in, the supposed revelation doesn't stand up a second lesson, as fans soon learned. Kylo doesn't say, "Face me, cousin!"; he shouts "Face me! Curses!" The second line, which he repeats later, is in response to being struck by a generator ... or a giant barrel. Whatever those objects are.

"The Angry Joe Show" host Joe Vargas, who appears to have kicked off the frenzy, quickly realized he'd misheard Kylo's dialogue, and acknowledged, "I got fooled. My bad." In the end, however, he's happy to be wrong.

"I actually didn't want confirmation nor definitive proof this early," he tweeted. "Rey's identity is still a mystery."
