Avengers #62 is set to bring back the world's very first Sorcerer Supreme, and he is far weirder than Doctor Strange.

CBR has an exclusive preview of Avengers #62 by writer Jason Aaron (Avengers Forever, Star Wars) and artist Ivan Fiorelli (The Amazing Spider-Man, Venom: Lethal Protector), which brings readers back to the dawn of humankind to reintroduce one of the most recognizable names in the multiverse. In the preview, Agamotto, the first Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, is seen dispatching some sort of otherworldly leech from their human victim by unleashing ethereal spiders to chase them off, all while promising that he is here to "keep things weird."

Though the ancient sorcerer Agamotto only made his first appearance as one of the All-Wise Vishanti spirits in 1972's Marvel Premiere #5 by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Irv Wesley, his name had already been a fixture of the Marvel Universe for nearly a decade prior. Doctor Strange's own Eye of Agamotto talisman has been a part of the character's regular repertoire since the 1960s and has played a prominent role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the physical cage for the Time Stone.

Throughout the course of the Avengers' journey, a myriad of various iterations of the team's most archetypal members have been uncovered, including a World War II era Soldier Supreme and more.
