The next "Spider-Man" film will be big -- likely figuratively, but definitely literally. The movie, a co-production of Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, will, like many contemporary action films, get an IMAX release, as reported by Deadline. The site's report states the film will be "digitally remastered into the IMAX 3D format."

This will be the fifth consecutive Spider-Man film to be released in IMAX theaters -- all but the first, 2002's "Spider-Man," were shown in the large-screen format.

Directed by Jon Watts, Sony and Marvel's still-officially untitled Spider-Man film is scheduled for release on July 7, 2017. The movie will star Tom Holland in his first solo Spidey movie, after first appearing in the role in "Captain America: Civil War," scheduled for release on May 6.
