Triple Frontier director J.C. Chandor has reportedly been tapped by Sony to helm Kraven the Hunter, which will exist in its Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC).

According to Deadline, Chandor is Sony's top choice to bring the Spider-Man villain to the big screen. This follows on the heels of the news that Olivia Wilde is set to direct an unnamed Marvel film for Sony, which is rumored to be Spider-Woman.

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Kraven debuted in 1964's The Amazing Spider-Man #15. Known as a big game hunter, Kraven saw Spider-Man as his next target to prove he was the greatest hunter in the world. The character is best known from the 1987 storyline "Kraven's Last Hunt."

Chandor's previous film works include Triple Frontier for Netflix, Margin Call and A Most Violent Year.

The studio is quickly working to broaden its Spider-Verse slate of films. Along with Tom Holland's Spider-Man 3, Sony also has Venom: Let There Be Carnage starring Tom Hardy, Jared Leto's Morbius, a Madame Web movie by S.J. Clarkson and Jackpot by Marc Guggenheim.

Produced by Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad, Sony's Kraven the Hunter currently does not have a release date.
