With the recent confirmation that Paul Feig and Katie Dippold's Ghostbusters film will reboot the comedy franchise, many fans have wondered whether the original gang might make an appearance. The biggest question in that regard is, as always, whether Billl Murray might be persuaded to suit up again as Peter Venkamn actor.

Variety reports that Sony would be up for bringing Murray on board if he's interested. At one point, Murray said he'd only sign on for a third Ghostbusters if he could play a ghost of his character.

Feig said last week that original cast members Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson are welcome back, just not as their existing characters. "As far as I’m concerned, anybody wants to come back I welcome with open arms," the filmmaker said said. "It would just be in different roles now, but it would be fun to figure out how to do that."
