Sony is very confident in its PlayStation 5, predicting that it will have a better first year on the market than the PlayStation 4.

"We think the PS5 will sell more in its first fiscal year than [we] sold in the first fiscal year at the time of PS4 launch," President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan said. The PS4 sold 7 million units in its first fiscal year after it launched in November 2013. The PS5, which is also launching in November, will have a similar time frame to match those numbers.

Ryan also spoke about the increase in price for PS5 games. "It is difficult to talk about the overall game market or other game consoles, but I think the value is obvious in the case of the PS5," he said. "We'll excite fans around the world with the best exclusive games on the market today and deliver a truly next-generation device experience that will captivate them."

PlayStation 5 goes on sale on Nov. 12. The Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive version will retail for $499 USD, while the Digital Edition without a disc drive will retail for $399.
