November sees the launch of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, officially kicking off the ninth generation of home console gaming, with Sony pulling out all the stops to market PS5.The first launch commercial for PS5 focuses on exploring new frontiers and encouraging gamers to immerse themselves in a world without limits. In anticipation of the console's launch, Sony has updated the PlayStation Store and given players the opportunity to preorder PlayStation 5 games. Sony predicts PS5 is already on pace to outsell PS4 had within its first year available upon its respective launch in 2013.

Sony confirmed the vast majority of PS4 titles will be backwards-compatible on PS5 at launch. However, games from previous Sony consoles will not. Select PS4 hardware will be backwards-compatible with the new console as well, but PS5's haptic controllers are needed to play PS5 titles.

PlayStation 5 goes on sale on Nov. 12 from Sony. The Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive version retails for $499 USD, while the Digital Edition without a disc drive retails for $399.
