Sony has officially debuted its next-generation console, the PlayStation 5.
At Sony's PlayStation 5 event, the company showcased the console's hardware, the new Dualsense wireless controller and trailers for a handful of new games. "At launch, we will offer two options: a PlayStation®5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation®5 Digital Edition without a disc drive," Sony explained on its YouTube page. "The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is all yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that’s bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation."
As for the games, Sony released trailers for such major properties as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Grand Theft Auto V, Oddworld Soulstorm, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil: Village and more.
Despite Sony finally unveiling the PlayStation 5 hardware, many gamers were understandably hoping for the company to reveal the price point for the console and its release date. As it stands, Sony's PlayStation 5 is scheduled to go on sale this holiday season.
