Sony Pictures Television is developing a host of Marvel television series, with the first one featuring Silk, a standalone Marvel character part of Sony Pictures' Universe of Marvel Characters.

According to Deadline, the Marvel suite of programming would first debut on a cable platform before Amazon gains the streaming rights. This package of Marvel programming is compared to the deal Netflix brokered for DaredevilLuke CageJessica JonesIron Fist and The Defenders. Lauren Moon (Freeform's Good Trouble, Netflix's Atypical), who is Korean-American like Silk, is in talks to write. Phil Lord, Chris Miller and former Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal are executive producing.

Silk feature film was first reported back in 2018 with Pascal producing the project. At the time, the movie would have joined a development slate that included Silver and BlackMorbius, the Living Vampire and NightwatchSilver and Black has since been split into two separate films and Morbius' release date was changed from July 31 of this year to March 19, 2021 due to COVID-19.

Created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Cindy Moon, aka Silk, had her first full appearance in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man #4. She was a high school classmate of Peter Parker and was bitten by the same radioactive spider that granted Peter his spider abilities. While Peter went on to become the Amazing Spider-Man, Cindy was locked away in a bunker by her former mentor, Ezekiel Sims.
