Madame Web's big-screen debut has been delayed by three months.

One of Sony's upcoming live-action Spider-Man spinoff films, Madame Web was previously scheduled for release on July 7, 2023. According to Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter, the film will now bow on Oct. 6, 2023. (Interestingly, this news comes not long after Sony removed an "Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe" film slated for June 23, 2023 from its release schedule.)

Madame Web is a clairvoyant and a prominent supporting player in Marvel's Spider-Man mythos. Created by Dennis O'Neil and John Romita Jr., the original Madame Web, Cassandra Webb, first appeared in 1980's Amazing Spider-Man #210. The mantle of Madame Web was later taken up by Julia Carpenter, who is perhaps best known for being the second Spider-Woman. Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, Julia first appeared as Spider-Woman as part of the Secret Wars limited series in 1984. Julia became Madame Web in 2010's Amazing Spider-Man #637 following the death of Cassandra Webb.

Sony's Madame Web Film Is Currently in Production

Sony's Madame Web is slated to release as the fifth entry in the studio's line of live-action Marvel spinoff films focusing on Spider-Man's enemies and other supporting characters. Venom kicked things off in 2018, followed by Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021 and Morbius earlier this year. Next up is Kraven the Hunter, which is currently slated for release on Jan. 13, 2023. Madame Web will follow suit in October 2023. Other planned films in Sony's Spider-Man Universe include El Muerto and Venom 3, among others.
