Another classic Spider-Man villain is being targeted for Sony Pictures' Kraven the Hunter feature film.

The Illuminerdi reports Kraven is looking to cast an actor in their 30s to portray the Spider-Man villain Chameleon. While it's reported that Chameleon will have a significant role in the Sony film, it is not known if he will be the only antagonist to appear.

Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Chameleon (Dmitri Smerdyakov) debuted in 1963's Amazing Spider-Man #1 and is one of the web-slinger's first enemies. Dmitri Smerdyakov is Sergei Kravinoff's half-brother. Of course, Sergei Kravinoff is Kraven's real name, which could be a plot point in the film if the report turns out to be accurate.

Sony cast Avengers: Age of Ultron and Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter in May, with a description of Kraven teasing a larger connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Other actors in the running for the role include Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, John David Washington and Adam Driver.

Kraven the Hunter joins other Sony Marvel projects including the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius, with films centered on Nightwatch, Madame Web, Jackpot and Spider-Woman reportedly in development.

Directed by J.C. Chandor, Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The film arrives in theaters Jan. 13, 2023.
