Sony Creates A Modern Modern Prometheus

Man or monster? Sony Pictures plans to find out, having bought a pitch for an updated version of Mary Shelley's classic novel Frankenstein from one of the producers for the new Spider-Man reboot.

Matt Tolmach, the man behind this new Frankenstein, isn't just any producer; up until the end of October, he was also the co-president of Sony Pictures - which might explain his success in selling this new project, scripted by upcoming screenwriter Craig Fernandez (who has a couple of projects in production with Dreamworks Animation). Beyond the new project being a contemporary version of Shelley's novel, little is known about it; the last big-screen adaptation of Shelley's novel was from Thor director Kenneth Branagh, in 1994.
