Mayans M.C. Season 4, Episode 5," Death of the Virgin," kills off Johnny "El Coco" Cruz.

On last week's episode of Mayans M.C., "A Crow Flew By," Marcus Alvarez sent Coco to Oakland for the upcoming ceremony honoring the club's fallen members. This put some strain on his relationship with Hope, his girlfriend, as he put club business above her and didn't show up to get her after work. Still, when "Death of the Virgin" cuts to Coco, he calls her from the ceremony. He tells her he loves her. However, as the night progresses, the Sons of Anarchy arrive to get revenge for the death of Allesandro Montez. Played by Richard Cabral, Coco first appeared in the series premiere of Mayans M.C., "Perro/Oc." The character has played a key role in the series and repeatedly proven himself an important member of the Santo Padre club. Mayans M.C. Season 3 saw him wrestling with drug addiction. However, by the end of the Mayans M.C. Season 4 two-part premiere, the character was no longer using drugs.

Co-created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, Mayans M.C. premiered on FX in 2018. The show, which is a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy, follows the Santo Padre charter of the Mayans M.C.. The first season of the show took place more than two years after the end of Sons of Anarchy and has featured a number of characters from that show, including Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller Morrow, Tommy Flanagan as Chibs Telford and Emilio Rivera as Alvarez.

The series followed the Sons of Anarchy charter in Charming, California, as they navigated their lives of crime. Sons of Anarchy's main character was Jax Teller, the son of one of the titular club's original founders. Over the course of the series, Jax uncovers secrets surrounding the death of his father.

New episodes of Mayans M.C. air Tuesdays on FX. The next episode of the series, "When I Die, I Want Your Hands on my Eyes," airs on May 17.
