A movie theater standee offers fans another new look at the revamped design for Paramount Pictures' Sonic the Hedgehog.
An Instagram user shared a photo of the standee, which features Sonic racing out of the letter O in his name. Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, can be seen peeking from behind the film's logo. The letters "AMC" appear to be Photoshopped across the image, which possibly means the picture of the Sonic standee was taken at an AMC theater.
As for Sonic's revamped look, he appears to have lost the human-like features that freaked fans out when the first trailer was released. Gone are the eyes, teeth and calves that eerily resembled a human being, replaced with softer features typically found on CGI animals.
Director Jeff Fowler responded to the online backlash by reassuring the fanbase that changes would be made to the final product, with the film pushed back from its original November release date.
Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden, Neal McDonald, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 14, 2020.
