A cosplayer brought Sonic the Hedgehog's best friend to life with an incredible Tails costume.

Reddit user u/simrell shared a photo showcasing a unique cosplay of Miles "Tails" Prower, in this case reimagined as a humanoid. The outfit features the core aspects of Tails' character design including his twin tails, fox ears, red and white sneakers and white gloves. The cosplayer also donned a blonde headpiece to mimic the hairs that extend from his forehead, as well as a yellow and white top and shorts to replicate the fox's fur. To finish the costume, a belt, goggles and jacket were added to capture Tails' flight and inventive capabilities.

Sonic's Sidekick Tails

Tails was first introduced to the franchise in 1992 in the 8-bit sequel game Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Having been captured by the villainous Dr. Eggman, he and the other residents of South Island were held hostage in exchange for the Chaos Emeralds. Despite being warned of the trap, Sonic returned to the island to free his pal and the rest of their animal companions. They have appeared together as best friends ever since in ensuing video games and television.

The character possesses several distinct characteristics that separate him from the other walking and talking anthropomorphic creatures shown throughout the franchise. The main one is his two tails, which can rotate like helicopter blades and allow the fox to fly freely. He is also an immensely gifted mechanic, as he is often seen creating new devices and vehicles to assist in his and Sonic's adventures.

In Tails' latest appearance, in Sonic Frontiers, he's one of the select few legacy characters in the game. The plot has Sonic separated from Tails, Amy Rose and Knuckles after they crashed into a collection of islands known as Starfall Islands. The game shows off the islands with its newly introduced open-zone format, allowing gamers to experience the full speed of Sonic in 3D. It also introduces a skill tree for players to use and adapt as needed to defeat the massive machines and the game's main antagonist, Sage. By taking advantage of these new abilities, Sonic can dash, spin and bounce to deal massive amounts of damage or counterattack at the perfect moment.

Fans can save Sonic's pals in the recently released Sonic Frontiers, which can be played on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.
