In January, Smith announced he'd no longer be voicing Sonic after a decade of portraying the character. He first voiced fan-favorite hedgehog in Sonic Colors and continued to reprise the role in games including LEGO Dimensions and Sonic Forces. Smith has also voiced Sonic in projects such as the Wreck-It Ralph films and the Sonic Boom animated series.

Craig recently hosted the Sonic Central Livestream, which revealed a host of Sonic-focused projects to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. This includes a two-part animated series Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps (starring Smith) and Sonic Colors Ultimate, an HD remake of Sonic Colors.
