James Marsden is set to be one of the stars of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film, as the primary human character that Sonic will need to team up with when he arrives in present-day Earth. With the character being new to the franchise, Marsden spoke about the character and revealed more about his role within the film.
"So Tom's... a small town cop and he's trying to figure his life out and what his next step is," Marsden told Comicbook.com during CinemaCon. "And he's married to Tika Sumter's character and they're trying to figure out the next step in their lives and in comes this character that is from another world and they become friends and they... go on a little journey together and some adventures and they hopefully get their answers to life together."
The film will see Sonic head to an Earth that not prepared to deal with him. Jim Carrey will also star in the film as the villainous Dr. Robotnik, with reports suggesting the character will look like his original video game design at some point in the film.
Set for release on Nov. 8, Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden, Neal McDonald, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally and Natasha Rothwell.
