Sonic the Hedgehog, the highly successful film from Paramount which just hit theaters in February, will be getting an early home video release date. Sonic will be available for digital purchase as soon as March 31, 2020.

Paramount shared the date in a press release, also revealing that Sonic the Hedgehog will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and for rental on demand or disc on May 19. Given the circumstances which have influenced the recent changes in the release dates of movies, it's a good opportunity for viewers to buy this blockbuster without leaving their homes.

The Sonic press release also listed the many special features to be included with the film. These include a new Sonic animation, deleted scenes, a blooper reel and a commentary track with director Jeff Fowler and the voice of Sonic, Ben Schwartz. Also included are a feature about Sonic's beginnings and one which illuminates Jim Carrey's portrayal of Sonic's greatest enemy.

A limited edition print comic book featuring Sonic and The Donut Lord will be included with the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Combo packs. The Digital, 4K Ultra HD Combo and the Blu-ray combo releases will also include the “Speed Me Up” music video, a feature titled "For the Love of Sonic" in which Carrey and other cast members describe what Sonic means to them, and a visit to the Sonic the Hedgehog set with Ben Schwartz.

Helmed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden as Sheriff Tom Wachowski, Neal McDonald, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally and Natasha Rothwell. The film can currently be seen in theaters and will soon be available for digital purchase.
