While the role of Tom Wachowski in Sonic the Hedgehog would eventually go to James Marsden, an early piece of Tianhua Xu/Tacit Sign Studios' concept art for the film shows Avengers: Endgame's Chris Evans as the small-town police officer.Shared on Twitter by user Marx Pan, the concept features Chris Evans and Sonic standing back-to-back, preparing to get involved in a bar brawl. "I found this concept art from an artist who worked with Jeff Folwer in early 2018, showing the original movie Sonic fighting alongside Chris Evans as Tom." said Pan.RELATED: Sonic The Hedgehog's Ben Schwartz Reacts to Film's Success

There are no reports that Chris Evans was in talks to play the role of Tom, which may have been unlikely as the actor had a lot on his plate at the time. In 2018, Evans reprised his role as Captain America in Avengers: Infinity War. The actor would go on to have a cameo in Captain Marvel and have his supposed last performance as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame.

Sonic the Hedgehog has done well at the domestic box office, making $57 million in its opening weekend.  The film currently sits at 95% among audience members and 63% among critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
