Contrary to recent rumors, Solo: A Star Wars Story director Ron Howard has confirmed there are no follow-up plans for his Star Wars feature.

"Well, there's no sequel planned now," Ron Howard said on Radio Andy, "It's amazing to be a part of a Star Wars movie that seems to be a kind of underground hit, which is not what you'd expect, but that's been an odd, strange journey for that movie."

Howard's comments came shortly after Solo star Alden Ehrenreich indicated that he may have heard discussions about reprising his role as the young Han Solo, albeit not in a planned theatrical feature film. Additionally, a recent rumor suggested that Donald Glover would reprise his Solo role as a young Lando Calrissian in a standalone Disney+ series.

When it premiered in May 2018, Solo: A Star Wars Story became the lowest-grossing Star Wars movie of all-time, earning $393.2 million on a reported production budget of $275 million. Plans for a follow-up were shelved despite the fact that Ehrenreich had signed on for two additional films.

Directed by Ron Howard and from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson.
