A new image from Solo: A Star Wars Story captures a typically perilous adventure for Alden Ehrenreich's titular Han.
The recent Solo trailer showed off several action-packed sequences to round off the movie's marketing campaign, but with onlyweeks to go until the young Nerd-herder takes to the screen, fans are still finding new material to get excited about.
The latest issue of Empire debuts an exclusive image of Han literally hanging by a thread over a snowy chasm on Vandor. What forces Han to take such a daring ride on high-speed train The Conveyex remains to be seen, but audiences know that something of high value is stored on board.
The magazine quashes earlier reports that the big heist takes place on fan-favorite Hoth or Chewie's home planet of Kashyyyk, proving that Vandor will be a major setting for Ron Howard's movie. Obviously, the history of Star Wars means that Han has to survive this brush with death, but it shouldn't make the Vandor Heist any less awe-inspiring when it takes place in Solo.
As well as an appearance of the iconic Kessel Run, an exploration of how Han ends up with the Millennium Falcon, and his first meeting with his furry friend Chewbacca, the latest image shows that Solo won't just be retreading familiar territory.
Described as a Western crossed with film noir, Solo is also combining the high-adrenaline stakes of a heist movie. After troubled production under Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Ron Howard's era of the story will finally hit theaters on next month with all the action and adventure you would expect from a Solo solo.
Directed by Ron Howard from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Storystars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. They’re joined by Thandie Newton as Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge L3-37, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos and Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett. The film opens May 25.
