Solo: A Star Wars Story Behind-the-Scenes Image Hints at New Vehicle

With the start of 2018 comes a new look at this year’s Star Wars movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Director Ron Howard took to his Twitter to wish all Star Wars fans a Happy New Year by sharing a new behind-the-scenes shot from his anthology film.

The picture doesn’t reveal a whole lot of details, but it does offer a close-up look at a ship’s control unit.

Astute fans can instantly notice the fact that these don’t look like the controls of Han Solo’s iconic spaceship, the Millennium Falcon. While we can’t be certain that lead actor Alden Ehrenreich is in the driver’s seat, the implication sure seems to be that Solo will feature a new ship for the smuggling scoundrel to pilot. With the sleeker steering wheel and the driving gloves, we might be looking at some new type of speeder.

With the caption “We’re pretty pumped for 2018,” director Ron Howard starts the new year with marketing hype for Lucasfilm’s next big movie. Now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi has hit theaters worldwide, it’s Solo‘s time to shine. And with Solo‘s earlier release date, one that means we won’t have to wait until Christmas, the movie’s closer than you might think.

Based on a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson. The film is scheduled for release on May 25.
