Solo: A Star Wars Story certainly had no shortage of callbacks to the other films in the Star Wars series. However, a new deleted scene not only provides yet another wink and nod to 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, but also fills viewers in on what exactly Han did to get himself expelled from the Imperial flight academy in the first place.

In the scene released by Entertainment Weekly, we see Han piloting a heavily damaged TIE fighter. A superior officer attempts to order him to land the fighter jet, prompting Han to characteristically go against what he's told and do things his way, but not before informing the officer that their "conversation is over" and shutting off his ship's communicator.

This, of course, directly mirrors the scene from the original 1977 film where Han attempts to fake his way through a conversation with an Imperial officer while Luke goes to find Leia's cell, before simply blasting the console and declaring that it was a "boring conversation anyway."

Following his crash, Han is court-martialed by the Empire for his insubordination. He is then promptly reassigned to the infantry and sent to the planet Mimban, where he will soon meet Tobias Beckett and company, putting the rest of the Solo's plot into motion.
