While Solo: A Star Wars Story may have performed below box office expectations upon its initial theatrical release in 2018, the Star Wars prequel film has continued to accumulate the growing fanbase hoping for a sequel to the film.

Following comments by star Alden Ehrenreich hinting that his role as the young smuggler in that galaxy far, far away was not done, a new report by Star Wars Unity claims a continuation series is in development for Disney+. No tentative release date or official confirmation from Disney has been announced at this time.

The report comes after comments from Ehrenreich earlier this month, indicating he may have heard discussions about reprising his role as the young Han Solo, albeit not in a planned theatrical feature film. Last week there was a rumor that Donald Glover would reprise his role as a young Lando Calrissian in a standalone Disney+ series.

Released in theaters May 2018, Solo: A Star Wars Story revealed the origins of Han Solo as an orphan that deserted the Imperial Navy to become a fast-shooting smuggler with a heart of gold. The film earned $393.2 million on a reported production budget of $275 million, shelving plans for a planned follow-up, despite Ehrenreich having signed a contract to appear in two additional films. Since then, fans have expressed support for a sequel continuing the characters' story in the Star Wars Universe.

Directed by Ron Howard and from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson.
