Zack Snyder, original director of the Justice League film, took some time to talk about his cut on the Comic-Con@Home Justice Con panel. Although the theatrical version released in 2017 was finished by Joss Whedon when Snyder had to leave the production, it appears that none of Whedon's footage will remain in Snyder's remade Justice League.

On the panel, Snyder was asked about some potential misconceptions about the upcoming project: "[Some fans] are claiming that you're going to use some of Whedon's scenes, which you're not, are you?"

Snyder's vehement response left little doubt on how he felt about that idea. "There would be no chance on Earth that I would use a shot that was made....after I left the movie."

He even emphasized that he wouldn't have anything to do with the project if he wasn't guaranteed to have full creative control over it. "There would be no way -- I would rather, I would destroy the movie, I would set it on fire before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph," he stated. "That is fucking hard fact."

To clarify further, Snyder talked about how similarities between the two versions might come up, and that they wouldn't be the result of reusing Whedon's footage but rather the other way around. "By the way, anything you see in this movie that reminds you of the other theatrical movie....would be because that's a thing I had done and now it's been borrowed."

He also reminded fans that he had never watched the theatrical version of the film.

The Snyder Cut, as fans dubbed the remake of Justice League, came into fruition after Snyder's fans launched a years-long campaign to see the director's original vision come to light. Though many details about the final product are still hazy, Snyder will share that vision on HBO Max.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in early to mid-2021.
