While in the final version of Zack Snyder's Justice League J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix) met with Batman at the end of the film, the project's titular director revealed last March that he originally wanted Green Lantern to be in the scene. This isn't the first time this particular photo has appeared online. In May 2021, a picture of Snyder surfaced online in which he showed this exact image of Carr as Green Lantern on his phone.

The original version of Justice League released in 2017. However, the project experienced a lot of trouble behind-the-scenes. Originally, Snyder -- who directed 2013's Man of Steel and 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the DC Extended Universe -- helmed the project. However, Snyder left the project following the death of his daughter. Joss Whedon, who directed 2012's Avengers, took over on Justice League and helmed massive reshoots.

The theatrical version of Justice League under-performed at the box following its release, only earning around $657 million worldwide, potentially losing between $50 and $100 million for Warner Bros. The movie also fared poorly critically and only holds a 39 percent among critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Following the failure of Justice League, Warner Bros. began re-tooling the DCEU. However, fans launched a campaign calling for the studio to give Snyder the chance to release his original vision for the project. Zack Snyder's Justice League released on March 18, 2021, and proved a success for HBO Max. Generally, reviews for Zack Snyder's Justice League were better, and the movie currently holds a 71 percent on Rotten Tomatoes among critics. Recently, there have been additional calls to have Snyder return and complete his original vision for the DCEU.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is available to stream now on HBO Max. There are no announced plans at this time to have the director return to helm more DCEU films.
