WARNING: The following contains spoilers for "The Time of Two Engines," the Season 2 premiere of Snowpiercer.

In the first season of Snowpiercer, there wasn't any threat to the Great Engine outside of the Earth being frozen over. That is until a civil war occurred and Layton led a revolution against the elites that saw many lives lost on both sides. Ultimately, it was an even battle as the factions consisted of armies with no guns; just blades, clubs, shields and any piece of furniture or metal they could fashion into a weapon.

However, as Season 2 kicks off, Layton's unified front tries to let bygones be bygones and work together to free themselves from being hooked by Wilford's Big Alice. Unfortunately, this new revolution is quickly snuffed out because Wilford has an inhuman threat in his arsenal — a super-soldier known as Icy Bob, and this titan seems to be unstoppable.

Layton tries to formulate a plan using the Tail to breach the front of Big Alice now that they're attached. But seeing as this is a borderland, Wilford's lackeys began trading with Pike and Co., bartering weed for fruits and such. However, rather than get angry that communication was established without letting him know, Layton spots a window of opportunity to exploit.

He secretly arranges a small contingent, and when Pike fakes another exchange of goods, they raid using spears and knives as if they're a legion from Troy. It's a coordinated attack that does well to push back the concerted defense Wilford's inexperienced guys try to put up. But Wilford doesn't flinch from his chambers as he orders the release of Icy Bob, a giant of a man standing at over seven feet.

As he arrives, Layton's crew is stunned — not only by his stature, padded armor and the fact he's a man of no words — he's pale and has blue veins in his head, making him look like a scientific experiment. It's a mix of Mr. Freeze, the Mountain and the Night King from Game of Thrones, and what he does next truly makes him a frost giant. He opens the pipes to let sub-zero temperatures in and as he starts swatting away Layton's guys one by one. It's clear he can survive in cold conditions, ergo his name.

This ice Hulk smashes people away with one blow, breaking them instantly and leaving Beth and the others petrified. Layton orders a retreat and as they head back, Icy Bob boards their train, closing the door with a smile and a middle-finger as if to indicate that he thoroughly enjoyed the sparring session.

With over 20 sent back injured, Layton's people, freezing and weak from the ice blasts on Big Alice, want to know what the hell's up.  At this point, Layton has no answers because he knows this isn't a wall they'll be able to get past by conventional means. And with the fear of God put into his colleagues, he'll need to come up with a new plan now that Wilford knows they're willing to breach the rules and fight dirty.
