WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the Snowpiercer Season 3 finale, "The Original Sinners," now available on TNT.

Season 3 of Snowpiercer found a hypocritical Layton (Daveed Diggs) lying to the Eternal Engine, which culminated in Sean Bean's Wilford sparking a new civil war. Luckily, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) was there to quell the drama after a shocking return, uniting the train and getting rid of Wilford. Interestingly, while she and Layton took Big Alice and Snowpiercer on separate tracks to find greener pastures, a few intriguing directions for Season 4 were set up.

Snowpiercer Can Unleash A New Enemy

Layton's train found New Eden outside Africa, basking in the lake and hotspot. But three months later, bombs dropped from the sky, showing Mel's train was under attack. Season 4 could introduce the Marauders that Asha spoke of before she died. She warned how these ravagers would pillage and kill, leaving fans curious what other weapons they could have.

It could fashion a story akin to Negan's Saviors from The Walking Dead. Mel has her engineer in Ben, a military leader in Till, a whiz kid in Miles and someone to help fraying mental states in Till's beloved Audrey. But she's short of real soldiers, which means Season 4 will have to dissect how they get Layton's team to come over and help in the teased war.

Snowpiercer Can Revive Wilford

Before Mel and Layton split off, they placed Wilford in a vessel and shot him off. He ended up in stasis on rogue tracks, but he could have been found by this new enemy. It's easy to see him three months later working with them to strike at this opportune moment. Partnering with Marauders does seem up his alley, but seeing as Wilford faked his redemption in Season 3, being with these fiends could truly have him changing his heart.

He may have helped them launch rockets to heat the atmosphere to build a better colony, or he could be a double-agent, hoping to save Mel's crew when they get attacked. It'll be intriguing to see which side Wilford picks and how he goes about forming the colony he's always wanted, especially if he discovers there is hope they can all live away from the tracks.

Snowpiercer Will Have To Perfect New Eden

Layton and Zarah reconnect in Snowpiercer

Hopefully, Layton can get Mel's crew back to New Eden. He'll have weapons, the ice soldier in Boki and Dr. Headwood's scientific genius to help out, but ultimately, his main goal will be restarting civilization there. As such, he may have key decisions and sacrifices to make as to how he gets Big Alice back.

It could cause conflict with Mel's daughter, Alex, or Till's ex-Brakeman boss, Roche. There's also potential for romantic drama to unfold, with Layton dating Josie while Zarah raises their kid. Carly and Alex will explore their LGBTQ+ arc too, but with so many bullish personalities, plus a war looming, these folks might find relationships tough to keep intact. At the end of the day, Layton will have to figure out how to keep everyone happy in this utopia, while building a legion to stand against the incursions sure to come.
