The fourth and final season of Snowpiercer is no longer slated to air on TNT as previously announced.

According to Deadline, Snowpiercer -- TNT's last remaining original scripted series -- is "done" at the basic cable network, despite Season 4 already being in the can. This development is believed to be a result of the content tax write-downs that took place at Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that owns TNT. Deadline reports that Tomorrow Studios, the studio behind Snowpiercer, is now shopping the show's final season to outer platforms. The studio is also reportedly shopping a potential prequel and sequel to Snowpiercer with the goal of building a franchise.

"We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of Snowpiercer," a network spokesperson said in an official statement. "This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer's extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects."

It was confirmed in June 2022 that the planned fourth season of Snowpiercer would be the show's last. According to Deadline's sources, the decision not to air the season came later in the year, amid the widespread content culling at Warner Bros. Discovery. Earlier this month, however, company CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels claimed that the WBD's content restructuring measures had come to an end. "We took a little bit of time to make sure that we do it properly," he said. "For some of the titles, we've found new homes elsewhere. That's why this took six or seven months. But I think we've come to great solutions and, most importantly, we're done with that chapter."

Snowpiercer Has One Season Left

Snowpiercer initially premiered on TNT in May 2020. The post-apocalyptic series is based on both the 2013 film of the same name and the 1982 graphic novel Le Transperceneige (which the film was itself based on). TNT's Snowpiercer follows the occupants of a perpetually moving train that circles the globe, which has become a frozen wasteland. It stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Iddo Goldberg, Susan Park, Katie McGuinness, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand, Mike O'Malley, Annalise Basso, Jaylin Fletcher, Lena Hall, Roberto Urbina, Steven Ogg, Rowan Blanchard, Sean Bean, Chelsea Harris and Archie Panjabi.

The third and most recent season of Snowpiercer premiered in January 2022, concluding the following March. At this time, there is no information regarding where the completed Season 4 could potentially air following TNT's decision to drop the series ahead of its planned conclusion.
