SNL's Riverdale Sketch Takes on the Show's Morbid Accuracy

SNL Riverdale

As one of the most popular series on The CW, Riverdale was the target of a parody sketch on this past weekend's Saturday Night Live, or rather, a sketch spoofing the production of the dark teen drama.

The parody showed the filming of the series' season finale as the Archie Comics adaptation attempted to film a scene with Lili Reinhart's Betty Cooper mourning the death of her cousin while visiting him in the morgue only for the actor to constantly interrupt takes by insisting on remaining medically accurate in his performance to a recent corpse

Musical guest Halsey portrays Reinhart playing Betty, with cast members Beck Bennett as Cole Sprouse portraying Jughead and Pete Davidson as the noisy cadaver while Kenan Thompson portrays the suffering director.

An off-kilter and macabre sketch, to be sure, the parody does feature fantastic impressions by Halsey and Bennett as their CW counterparts.

Airing Wednesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Miller, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick and Luke Perry.
