Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins actor Henry Golding provided insight on G.I. Joe's three challenges of the warrior.

Golding was asked about the three challenge trial in an interview with Comicbook.com. He explained "The three challenges are the warriors' challenges, and they are meant to test the fortitude, not only of someone mentally, but to test the heart, their strength and their overall willingness to sacrifice themselves. So I won't tell you exactly what they are, but that is pretty much what they're summed to be."

Golding stars as Snake Eyes in the upcoming film, which focuses on the classic character's history and his training with the Arashikage ninja clan. Golding views Snake Eyes as the beginning of a new G.I. Joe universe, recently saying "I truly believe that how Paramount has really focused on one character to build out the universe is the correct way. We need the groundwork. We need the structural integrity to build something awesome."

Snake Eyes is the third live-action film adaptation of the G.I. Joe franchise, preceded by 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation. While separate from the previous films, Snake Eyes was influenced by them in an unexpected way. The G.I. Joe eagle logo from The Rise of Cobra was featured on a poster for Snake Eyes' character Scarlett.

Directed by Robert Schwentke, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, Andre Koji as Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais as Hard Master, Úrsula Corberó as Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko and Tahehiro Hira as Kenta. The film arrives in theaters July 23.
