The fan-favorite G.I. Joe ninja Snake Eyes is poised to take center stage this summer in a new comic book miniseries by superstar creator Rob Liefeld.
First announced this past July by IDW Publishing, Liefeld will be writing and illustrating Snake Eyes: Deadgame, with the stoic shinobi embarking on an especially deadly mission as his past comes back to haunt him. IDW has released an unlettered preview of this June's inaugural issue, along with Liefeld's cover showing Snake Eyes back in action.
"G.I. Joe was my first obsession," declared Liefeld in a written statement from IDW. "Those were the toys in the sandbox with me, kung fu grip, eagle eye, I had them all. G.I. Joe is a world of characters that I have always aspired to participate in....Snake Eyes was a profound influence on my creating Deadpool. Producing this series is an all-time bucket list achievement for me.”
Known for his kinetic action sequences and badass hero characters, Liefeld created some of the biggest fan-favorite heroes in the Marvel Universe before co-founding Image Comics. However, the upcoming Snake Eyes miniseries is shaping up to be a true passion project for the comic book creator.
