Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding is in talks to play Snake Eyes in the character's upcoming eponymous G.I. Joe film.

Although Golding is probably best known for his role as Nick Young in Crazy Rich Asians, the actor also played Sean Townsend in A Simple Favor. He's also set to star in Monsoon and Last Christmas, a romantic comedy also featuring Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke.

First appearing in 1982, Snake Eyes is an original member of the G.I. Joe team and one of its most popular. The character was played by Ray Park (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) in 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013's G.I. Joe Retaliation. The ninja commando does not reveal his face or speak, leaving him something of a mystery. However, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura teased in April the character might indeed have a voice in his solo film.

Snake Eyes premieres October 16, 2020. It is directed by Robert Schwentke (Insurgent, Allegiant). The film will follow Snake Eyes' journey to Japan for training and his eventually joining the G.I. Joe team.
