John Glover is well-known for having played various villainous characters over the course of his long career, with one of his most popular roles being that of Lex Luthor's father Lionel Luthor on the Superman-based television show Smallville.
In a new interview with Fandom Spotlite at Wizard World Cleveland 2019, Glover confirmed the rumor that he had also boarded the upcoming DC film Shazam!. And as it turns out, he has a penchant for parenting bald supervillains.
In the interview, Glover revealed that he was enlisted to play the father of Shazam!'s main antagonist, Mark Strong's Doctor Sivana.
"I think I can [talk about it] now. I wasn't allowed to for a while," he explained. "But there is a father's role in Shazam! that I went to Toronto and filmed... [Mark Strong is] a beautiful actor. And he plays my son grown up... I play his father."
Glover's other DC roles include Doctor Jason Woodrue in 1997's Batman & Robin and Edward Nygma/The Riddler in DC Animated Universe shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures.
Arriving April 5, director David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as Shazam, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as the ancient wizard Shazam, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Jack Dylan Grazer as Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vásquez and Marta Milans as Rosa Vásquez.
