Michael Hogan, best known as Battlestar Galactica's Col. Saul Tigh, will play Deathstroke on Smallville, IGN reports.

Referred to only as Slade, the character will appear in at least two episodes in the series' 10th and final season: the ninth episode, "Patriot," and the 11th, "Icarus."

Created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, Slade Wilson (aka Deathstroke the Terminator) was introduced in December 1980's New Teen Titans #2 as a mercenary with enhanced physical abilities and a brilliant tactical mind. He became a regular Titans opponent -- he was one of the antagonists in the well-regarded "Judas Contract" storyline -- and in the 1990s even had his own monthly title. In recent years Deathstroke has become a fixture of the DC Universe, playing roles in Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis, Batman and Robin, and Brightest Day.

Slade joins a growing list DC Comics characters set to be introduced in Smallville's final season, among them Darkseid, Hawkgirl, Deadshot, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. Smallville airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST/PST on The CW.
